A Little Taste of Africa

While sightseeing in Luxor, Egypt with Memphis Tours my wife and I were brought to Africa Restaurant for lunch. From the outside, the restaurant does not really stand out but looks can be deceiving. When we walked up to the rooftop, it opened to a beautiful view of Luxor and the Nile River. There were plenty of seating options to choose from. Once we were seated our server came over and took our drink orders. My wife and I ordered ice-cold water and hibiscus tea. The restaurant offers traditional Egyptian/ Middle Eastern cuisine. The restaurant is Halal. Also, there were vegan dishes and vegetarian options. As an appetizer we had Egyptian flatbread, baba ghanoush, beans, potatoes, salad, and lentil soup. We also ordered fish, grilled chicken, rice, fried eggplant, and the meal included dessert. The food was well seasoned, flavorful, and delicious. Of all the restaurants, this was by far our favorite. The ambiance is a family-style dining where guests can share dishes. As far as presentation, the plates were not overcrowded with huge portions. The wait staff was friendly, courteous, and accommodating. This destination is quite popular amongst the tour groups. It can be crowded at times but it is definitely worth it. With such a large crowd, the atmosphere was slightly chaotic. Consequently, our food came out promptly. Although our meal was included with our tour, the drinks were not. Therefore, we did order items off of the menu. The price point was quite reasonable. Overall it was a great dining experience. Food can make or break a trip. Africa Restaurant made the trip to Luxor, Egypt exceptionally memorable. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone seeking a restaurant that offers a fantastic dining experience in Luxor, Egypt.
