The Wolfpack: Great Wolf Lodge

I love family time and what better way to spend time with the family than a weekend getaway to Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg, VA. My wife and I started our research by visiting https://www.greatwolf.com/williamsburg. Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA has been ranked high in reviews since its inception in 2005. They set the bar so high with different room configurations for families of all sizes. Great Wolf Lodge of Williamsburg went on to win in 2018 for the Top 25 Hotels for families in the US. They average a 4 out of 5-star rating.

Great Wolf Lodge varies in price point from about $200 to $500 per night, depending on the season. During our research, we observed several searches on how to get a discount at Great Wolf Lodge. There are ways to save if the price point is not within your budget. Take advantage of sales advertised on the Great Wolf Lodge website. Also, there are Groupon deals, but it is important to read the fine print about the available dates. Active Duty and Veterans can take advantage of the Howling Heroes Military Discounts as well.

We decided to go with the Premium Loft Fireplace Suite with a family of seven because it offered three queen beds, one full sleeper sofa, a gas fireplace, a living area, one full bath, a half bath, and a balcony. When we went to book the room for the weekend, they require you to put a deposit on the room, which is the first night rate. Upon check-in, every guest is given an RFID wristband. The parent’s wristband doubles as a room key and allows you to charge items to a credit card on file. Children are provided different wristbands.

As part of the check-in process, guests receive wolf ears to wear around the property. Since I am a big kid, I had to get a pair too! Check-in starts at 4 PM, but you are allowed to arrive earlier and enjoy the lodge indoor water park! Our children could not wait to test out the pool and waterslides. They range in age from four to sixteen and the waterpark has something for everyone. The waterpark has locker rooms for women and men to get changed and showered. You can use your wristband to check out towels for your party. There are life vests available as well. Some of the features of the waterpark include four slides, a pool with an obstacle course, a wave pool, and a kiddie pool area. You have unlimited access from sunup (9 AM) to sundown (8 PM) and you may enter and leave as many times you want. They have a food bar inside for your convenience to feed the family without leaving. There is an arcade and gift shop on-site as well.

After, visiting the waterpark our room was finally ready to check in. When you walk into the room we quickly realize we made the right decision! We were blown away by the space available for our kids to run around. Choosing the Loft suite was great because for couples that still want a little bit of privacy. You have plenty of on-ground food options to curve your appetite, which include the Loose Moose Bar & Grill, Hungry as A Wolf, Bear Paw Sweets & Eats, and for you coffee lovers, Dunkin Donuts. There are plenty of local restaurants and fast-food restaurants near Great Wolf Lodge. If weather permits, guests can also enjoy the mini-golf course, the large outdoor pool, and the outdoor bar and grill. Unfortunately, during this family trip, it rained the entire weekend. Nonetheless, the family took advantage of every activity available. The staff was accommodating and ensured we had a great overall experience. We highly recommend Great Wolf Lodge and rate our experience a 5 out of 5 stars.
